What makes someone Scottish?

A touchy subject - but I decided to keep the definition of Scottish simple.

My opinion is that anyone born in Scotland is Scottish, no matter where their parents came from.

Very few of us could claim lineage back hundreds of years to the old Clans but we are are all Scottish now, however far back or recently our ancestors settled in this country.

Modern Scotland has many Scottish people whose origins are from many countries - Ireland, Pakistan, India, Africa, China, Italy, and even England are some obvious ones.

Our next generation of Scottish people will include those from Poland and other Eastern European countries.
